Nominated by Go Global
If you are accepted to a CIE exchange program, you will receive an email 6-8 weeks after the application deadline from Go Global, notifying you which university you have been matched to and the next steps.
Apply to Host University
Over the following weeks, you will apply to your host university:
- If you are applying for Exchange for winter term 1 or a full year, your application process starts in the spring.
- If you are applying for Exchange for winter term 2 or for a split-year program, your application process starts in the late summer and fall.
Our partner institutions make the final decision on whether or not you will be accepted to their institution. In the rare case that you are not accepted by the partner institution, we will help you seek another CIE opportunity.
Pre-Departure Program
Going on an exchange experience is an amazing opportunity, and you will have lots of questions about relocating to a new place and a new culture. We highly recommend you attend the Go Global exchange pre-departure program which is an integral part of your international learning experience, designed to help you in your personal, academic, and administrative preparation.

The staff at your host university’s exchange office are equipped to support you throughout your exchange with any inquiries or issues related to your stay. For additional assistance, feel free to contact your UBC campus CIE Advisor or Go Global Advisor.
