Mushfirat Ahmed

Hello! My name is Mushfirat Ahmed, and I’m a fourth-year Chemical Engineering student at The University of British Columbia. I’ve had the privilege of gaining hands-on experience through co-op placements at TC Energy and Teck Resources Limited.

At TC Energy, I worked as a Liquids Operations Engineering Intern on the Pipeline Integrity Team, where I generated and maintained crucial excavation sheets, analyzed pressure cycling data, and spearheaded the development of a field operation report system. My internship at Teck Resources allowed me to dive deeper into process engineering, particularly within the Highland Valley Copper Mine Life Extension Project. I collaborated with cross-functional teams to review and debug Process Flow Diagrams and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, developed tools to improve safety, and coordinated essential data for engineering analysis.

I’m excited to bring my technical expertise and industry experience to support fellow students in navigating their career paths and achieving their professional goals.

Syed Araf Imam

I'm Syed, a fourth-year Computer Engineering student with a robust 20-month Co-op experience that has taken me across various pivotal roles in the tech industry. My most significant stint was as a Full Stack Software Engineer Intern, where I delved deep into the complexities of database architecture and software performance optimization. This role also immersed me in Agile methodologies, providing me with firsthand experience in the collaborative processes essential for developing large-scale software solutions.

In addition to my full-stack experience, I have also contributed as an Android Developer, where I played a key role in designing and developing innovative mobile applications. My journey also includes working as a Software Developer in Test (QA), where I honed my skills in building resilient and high-quality software systems.

The Co-op program has been instrumental in shaping my professional path, offering invaluable lessons and insights, particularly in the realm of job hunting. I'm passionate about sharing this knowledge and helping others successfully navigate the often challenging process of securing meaningful opportunities in the tech world.

Most recently, I completed a co-op as a firmware engineer, where I had the opportunity to work on some exciting technology. Outside of academics, I’m passionate about sports, music, and consider myself a bit of a foodie.
