About the Team
UBC AeroDesign is a student engineering team that designs, builds, and flies radio-controlled fixed-wing aircraft for the SAE Aero Design Collegiate Series. Founded in 1992 (as UBC Heavy Lift), the team continues a long tradition of hands-on design, analysis, manufacturing, and flight testing.
Each year, they build two aircraft to compete in two categories—Micro Class, which tests efficient payload-lifting with strict weight and size limits, and Advanced Class, which challenges teams to integrate custom avionics, hardware, and software into a sophisticated autonomous flight system.
