EDC 211
The EDC 211 Fabrication Space also features a CNC Router, available for wood or foam cutting. Teams may only use the CNC Router if they have been trained by the CNC Administrator (email the EDT Coordinator to determine who the current administrator is).

SALA's CNC machine is possible to book, but only rarely done. It can take a LOT of staff work to make things happen on that machine, so there needs to be a compelling reason why we use that machine, not just as a convenience.
- The CNC is terrible at cutting 2D shapes out of plywood. Most CNC routers are better equipped, but SALA's uses a different clamping system and the results aren’t pretty. Their machine is more set up to do 3D shaping.
- Bookings have to go through Graham Entwistle (digifab@sala.ubc.ca) directly, to ensure they don't interfere with SALA student use. You will be expected to discuss your needs to make a comprehensive plan well in advance of when you require the CNC.
- Blackout dates apply. These are highly variable, depending on course deadlines, so they aren’t something one can publish.
- They are in place the last 3 weeks of either winter term for sure.
- Spring is generally much busier than fall, so will have more blackouts.
- The start of fall is very busy, but the start of spring term is usually a great time to get work done for EDTs.
