Design Team-only Prototyping Spaces - Who can access?

This applies to all EDT-restricted spaces, including EDC, CHBE, Hennings and LMRS.

  • Students who graduate in May are considered current students and can participate until August 31 of that year. Alumni may act as consultants, but cannot conduct any prototyping work.
  • No high school students or other members of the public (including alumni) are allowed to participate in design team activities.
  • Guests (including alumni, industry sponsors, tours, etc.) may come into restricted UBC spaces to with permission from Richard Colwell and the respective the facilities supervisor. To receive permission, please:
    • include purpose of visit, date and time, and duration, and list of guests; a kind reminder that guests are not allowed to participate in any prototyping/hands-on activities.
      • Note: written approval for in-kind sponsored services must be also be received before they enter the space
    • provide 3-5 business days' notice for approvals.

All design team members must complete the required safety orientation before gaining access to EDC machining/prototyping facilities.
